Karena diafragma pada driver kerucut disebut &#8220;paper&#8221;, bubur kertas sering dijadikan sebagai bahan utama pembuatan diafragma. Biasanya bahan yang digunakan selain bubur kertas adalah aluminium, kevlar, polypropylene, dan polystyrene. Desain ini, bagaimanapun, memiliki directionality yang sangat baik dengan memberikan rentang atas sudut dispersi yang lebih luas untuk menghindari kecenderungan pancaran frekuensi tinggi. Driver jenis ini memiliki ciri khas yaitu corong yang dipasang di depan diafragma. Banyak orang akan mengenali desain ini dari gambar fonograf tua (juga disebut gramofon). Jenis driver ini biasa digunakan untuk reproduksi rentang frekuensi menengah dan tinggi. Fungsi corong pada horn driver adalah untuk mentransfer getaran yang dibuat oleh diafragma ke udara dan membuatnya lebih keras. Speaker horn memiliki desain yang efisien karena diafragma driver ini tidak harus berosilasi terlalu banyak untuk menghasilkan suara yang keras dibandingkan dengan driver tipe cone. Karena efisiensinya yang tinggi, driver tipe horn masih banyak digunakan pada speaker untuk keperluan pengumuman dan sinyal peringatan. Keuntungan lain dari driver tipe horn adalah directionality mereka. Driver tipe horn dapat langsung menembakan suara ke arah pendengar. Hal ini mengakibatkan area &#8220;sweetspot&#8221; yang lebih sempit untuk pendengar. Tidak seperti driver biasanya, driver ribbon memiliki bentuk kotak dan terdiri dari plat tipis yang mampu menghasilkan suara frekuensi tinggi yang tidak dapat dijangkau oleh tweeter biasa (5-23Khz). Driver ribbon dapat menghasilkan suara paling alami karena rentang frekuensi yang dihasilkan. Driver ribbon diklaim natural dan cocok untuk reproduksi suara biola dan terompet yang memberikan sensasi suara seolah-olah keluar langsung dari instrument.
